Layout Converter

Fixes text typed in the wrong keyboard layout: ghbdtn - привет. Works both ways, right in your browser.

Paste your text - the result appears instantly. The direction (English layout to Russian or back) is detected automatically from the letters; you can pin it with the buttons if you like. The text goes nowhere: the conversion runs in your browser.

A familiar situation: you forgot to switch the language and got ghbdtn instead of привет, or a meaningless string instead of a password or address. No need to retype: paste the text typed in the wrong layout here and it becomes readable. The converter swaps each character for the one on the same key in the other layout, so punctuation converts correctly too: Ghbdtn? Rfr ltkf& becomes «Привет, как дела?». It also works the other way - when Russian text was typed in the English layout. Essentially an online one-off replacement for a layout switcher app: nothing to install.

Questions and answers

What does the layout converter do?

It fixes text typed in the wrong keyboard layout: ghbdtn becomes привет, and Ghbdtn becomes Привет. It works both ways: from the English layout to Russian and back.

How is the conversion direction detected?

Automatically: if the text has more Latin letters, it is assumed to be typed in the English layout and converted to Russian, and vice versa. You can also set the direction manually with the buttons above the input.

Is the text sent to a server?

No. The conversion runs right in your browser in JavaScript; the text is never transmitted or stored anywhere.

Which layouts are supported?

The standard Russian ЙЦУКЕН and English QWERTY (US), including punctuation and Shift symbols: ghbdtn? becomes привет, and the question mark becomes a comma, just like on a real keyboard.
